Why are my trades expiring at zero in my trading journal if I close them with a stop loss on Tastytrade?

The reason this happens is due to how Tastytrade’s system syncs trade data. When a trade is closed with a stop loss, Tastytrade doesn’t send the specific fill price for that trade to external systems for syncing. As a result, your journal records it as having expired at zero, which isn’t an accurate reflection of the user’s performance.

You can easily fix this. The most effective way is to manually enter the correct closing prices for these trades. You can find this information in the daily trade activity files that Tastytrade provides. By taking a few moments to update your journal with the actual exit price, you’ll ensure your performance metrics are accurate and your data is reliable. This small step can make a big difference in the quality of your trading analysis.
