You changed your account’s base currency from dollars to euros, and the total doesn’t match what you get from your dollar profit times today’s exchange rate. Nothing is wrong with your data. TraderSync and your quick check are using different exchange rates.
Why it happens
- When you convert, TraderSync restates every trade in the new currency. It does not use one rate for the whole history.
- Each trade’s profit or loss is converted at the exchange rate on the day that trade closed. This is the wording in the confirmation dialog: “This converts every trade in your account using the exchange rate on that trade’s closing date, so your stored P&L is restated, not just relabelled.”
- Today’s rate is not used for your history. If a trade is closed in several pieces, each closing piece uses the rate of its own day.
- Multiplying your total by one rate uses a single rate for every trade, so it only matches when all your trades closed at the same rate.
An example
Two winning trades in a dollar account. The exchange rates are made up to keep the numbers round, and all amounts are gross, before fees.
| Trade A | Trade B | Total | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profit in dollars | +$1,000 | +$1,000 | +$2,000 |
| Day it closed: what 1 euro cost | March: $1.00 | September: $1.25 | |
| Converted by TraderSync (each trade at its own closing-day rate) | €1,000 | €800 | €1,800 |
| Quick check: total at today’s rate (1 euro = $1.25) | €1,600 |
The two totals are €200 apart. Trade A is worth more in euros than a today’s-rate check says, because the euro was cheaper the day it closed.
How to make them match
- Convert each trade yourself at the rate of the day it closed (Trade A: $1,000 ÷ 1.00, Trade B: $1,000 ÷ 1.25), then add them up. You get the same €1,800 that TraderSync shows.
- Don’t expect your total times today’s rate to match. It will only match if every trade closed at that same rate.
