Your broker statement says one number and TraderSync says another. Nothing is wrong with your data: TraderSync can show your P&L before costs (Gross) or after them (Net), and Net can only subtract the costs it actually has for the trade.
Why it happens
Two things decide the number you see:
- Gross or Net. Gross is the price difference only. Net is Gross minus commission, minus fees, plus swap (swap is signed, so a swap cost lowers Net). You switch with the G/N button at the top right, next to Accounts. It starts on Gross.
- Which costs TraderSync has. Commission and fees come from the file or feed you imported. If your broker charged a fee that the file doesn’t include, that fee is zero in TraderSync, so Net subtracts nothing for it.
An example
You sell your shares and make $250 from the price alone. Your broker charges $5 commission and $2 in fees, so its statement shows +$243. The file you imported has the $5 commission but no fee. (Illustrative numbers, one trade.)
| What you look at | Shows | Matches the statement (+$243)? |
|---|---|---|
| TraderSync on Gross | +$250 | No, it ignores all costs |
| TraderSync on Net, fee missing from the file | +$245 (250 − 5) | No, $2 apart |
| TraderSync on Net, after a fee rule adds the $2 | +$243 (250 − 5 − 2) | Yes |
How to make them match
- Compare like with like: switch to Net before comparing with a statement that includes costs.
- Still a small gap on Net? Open Settings > Commissions & Fees and add a rule under Fees (or Commissions) for that broker. Choose how it applies (per share, per contract or per order) and its value. Tick Apply this configuration to all your current trades for this broker to update trades you already have.
- A rule only fills in where the trade’s fee is zero. To replace a value that came in the imported file, tick Force these values over the ones included in imported files.
