You looked at a trade that lost money after fees, and TraderSync calls it a win. Or your Win %, Loss % and BE % add up to more than 100. Nothing is wrong with your data. Three separate rules decide what you see, and they do not all follow the same button.
Why it happens
- Determine win/loss by (Settings, Trades) decides the label. Gross P&L is the default: a trade is a win if it made money before commissions and fees. Net P&L judges it after them.
- Breakeven Offset (Settings, Trades) is a range, for example from -$10 to +$10. A trade whose result falls inside it, edges included, counts as breakeven instead of a win or a loss. The range is measured on the same basis as the label (gross or net). It never turns a profit into a loss.
- The Gross / Net button at the top right only changes the dollars you see. It does not change the label.
- Win % and Loss % are divided by winners plus losers only, so together they make 100%. BE % is divided by all closed trades, so it sits on top of them.
- Profit Factor puts each trade in the winners’ or the losers’ pool by its label, not by the sign of the number on screen.
An example
Five closed trades, with the Gross / Net button on Net (illustrative numbers, no other fees):
| Trade | Gross | Costs | Net |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | +$3 | $5 | -$2 |
| B | +$400 | $10 | +$390 |
| C | -$150 | $10 | -$160 |
| D | +$8 | $4 | +$4 |
| E | -$6 | $4 | -$10 |
The same five trades give three different answers:
| Rule | Labels | Win % | Loss % | BE % | Profit Factor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Judge by Gross (default) | A, B, D win; C, E lose | 60% | 40% | 0% | 2.31 |
| Judge by Net | B, D win; A, C, E lose | 40% | 60% | 0% | 2.29 |
| Judge by Net, band -$10 to +$10 | B wins; C loses; A, D, E breakeven | 50% | 50% | 60% | 2.44 |
The surprises:
- With the first rule, trade A shows -$2 but is a win, because it made $3 before costs. Its -$2 goes into the winners’ pool of Profit Factor: (-2 + 390 + 4) / (160 + 10) = 2.31.
- With the third rule, Win % is 50% and Loss % is 50%, and BE % is 60% (3 of 5 trades). The three add up to 160%, because BE % is counted against all five trades while Win % and Loss % are counted against the two that were not breakeven.
- Breakeven trades are in neither Profit Factor pool.
How to make them match
- To stop a trade that shows a loss from counting as a win, set Determine win/loss by to the same basis as your Gross / Net button: Net for Net, Gross for Gross.
- To have only trades at exactly zero count as breakeven, leave the Breakeven Offset empty.
- Changing Determine win/loss by recalculates win/loss on all your trades, so your percentages can change.
